Howdy Pilgrims. This special notice is being sent out to those of you that would like to see THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY and ISLAND IN THE SKY before their DVD release on August 2, 2005.
American Movie Classics (AMCTV) this weekend will be having a John Wayne World Premiere Weekend all weekend long July 16 and 17. Follow the link for more information about this event. John Wayne films will be showing all weekend plus the TV premieres of THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY and ISLAND IN THE SKY. A schedule of the movies shown is available at this site along with some clips of conversations about John Wayne.

Now that you have the information about this event, I would like to add my view. AMC used to be a fine classic movie channel a few years ago, similar to what Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is today. If you have not watched AMC recently you will be surprised. They have switched to "modern" classics with frequent commercial interruptions with the films being edited, probably to fit in more commercials. Personally I will wait until the DVDs come out to see THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY and ISLAND IN THE SKY, in 21 days.
