I just wanted to update you on the happenings at Newt's John Wayne Site and I hope that you had a very happy holiday season.

• Volume Five of THE TRAIL BEYOND is out and I am sure some of you have already received your copy. If you are not familiar with this publicaton go here for a look see. The Trail Beyond is an annual publication edited and compiled by Tim Lilley of Akron, Ohio. This publication is put out in December of each year. For over 15 years Tim published The Big Trail, a bi- monthly newsletter dedicated to the films of John Wayne. Now, as an annual publication and as the bi-monthly one was, it contains anything and everything you ever wanted to know about John Wayne. In the past issues there was information not only about John Wayne but directors, co-stars, stuntmen, and crew.
  

• The Rio Grande Trivia Contest is still going on. The winner of this contest will be awarded a new, sealed DVD of Rio Grande - The Collectors Edition. Click here to find out information about this DVD release.
  The winner will be announced on April 1, 2004. This gives everyone plenty of time to enter. The winner will be determined by a blind drawing if there is a tie for the most correct answers. There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted. All entrants to the contest will receive a FREE Rio Grande screensaver. To enter the contest CLICK HERE. As an added bonus I will also be adding another blind drawing from all entrants for a DVD copy of Rio Grande. This is not the collectors edition but the one that was issued earlier.
  

• To help with the trivia quiz Rio Grande will be showing on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) on January 10th. A couple of other seldom seen films will also be shown this month. In Tycoon (1947) John Wayne is an engineer in South America, co-starring Larraine Day, this film will be showing on January 26th. In College Coach (1933) John Wayne has just a bit part, it will be shown on January 29th. Please check your cable or satellite listings for the times in your area.
  

• Existing copies of THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY on VHS tape are still going for a high price on eBay. The latest one was $305.00, this auction had 36 bids with 629 hits. This just goes to show that there is a lot of interest in this film. Until the Wayne family has this film remastered and released to home video this remains the only way one can get a version of this film.

  The new Wayne Enterprises website is up and running at www.wayneenterprises.com, the site is mainly for licensing. I have emailed them but they are referring all inquiries to Batjac Productions concerning this film.
