The California State Assembly has rejected a resolution to make May 26, 2016 John Wayne Day. The resolution was presented my Assemblyman Matthew Harper who represents the 74th District, which includes John Wayne Airport and John Wayne�s longtime home in Newport Beach. Of the 52 Democrats in the Assembly, seven voted in favor of the resolution and 24 abstained. The final vote was 35 to 20.

And for my two cents worth, John Wayne would be apalled by political correctness and the 'ME GENERATION' that it has spawned. So many want handouts from the government instead of working and holding their head up. This PC attitude of being offended and needing a safe space so that can't hear what they deem offensive, has made this a country of wimps. It is sad day for America.
Enough of this downer talk, let's get back to the good stuff: John Wayne, Amercia, Mothers and apple pie.

The most popular film actor of the 20th century, John Wayne, is once again in the top five on The Harris Poll's annual list of "America's Favorite Movie Stars," this year landing the fourth spot. More than 38 years after his death, Wayne is the only late actor in the top 10 and has never fallen out in over two decades.
