Newt's John Wayne Site

I just wanted to update you on the happenings at Newt's John Wayne Site. CLICK HERE for a list of films starring John Wayne on TV showing this month.

• As many of you know the date of release for THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY and ISLAND IN THE SKY is August 2, 2005. These films are going to be released on DVD only at this time. Those of you without a way to play a DVD will be out of luck, perhaps they will be released to VHS at a later date. CLICK HERE to go to a page that will give you all the information that is currently available concerning these releases including the special features.
  

• I recently purchased the new Warner Home Video John Wayne boxed set John Wayne Legendary Heroes Collection. This is a five disc set with special features on some of the discs.The films are, in cronological order; Tall in the Saddle (1944), Blood Alley (1955), The Sea Chase (1955), The Train Robbers (1973), and McQ (1974). These films can also be purchased individually, just click the appropriate link for more information. I would have liked more special features but a lot of those things were not kept around from the earlier films.
  

• The Pittsburgn Tribune-Review had an article on May 29, 2005 about the release of THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY. Check out the article "Long-awaited Wayne classic gets DVD release date".
  

• As most of you know May 26th was John Wayne's 98th birthday. Well, I had a cake made up and took it to work to commemorate the occasion. If you go to my homepage at https://www.jwaynefan.com you will see a photo of the cake, a joyful time was had by all.
