• On Turner Classic Movies (TCM) channel this month is sparse on John Wayne films. The only one listed is Baby Face (1933), Duke only has a couple of scenes in the film. It will be shown on June 11, 2013 at 5:00 PM pacific time. Please check your cable or satellite listings for the time in your area.
  

• As you are probably aware Olive Films has acquired the Republic Studios library from Paramount Pictures. This is significant because a lot of the films released by Republic Studios are no longer available on DVD. The Olive Films releases are not only on DVD but also Blu-Ray. I have incorporated these releases in the John Wayne Store. For Blu-Ray titles and DVD titles click these links.
  

• A recent pair of John Wayne books, first, John Wayne: The Legend and the Man: An Exclusive Look Inside Duke's Archives, released December 4, 2012. First-ever authorized book by John Wayne Enterprises, this book features Nver-Before-Seen John Wayne Archived Photo Collection. This 272-page book celebrates Duke's life and legacy through photography and stills from his cinematic masterpieces. Second is The Searchers: The Making of an American Legend by Glenn Frankel. This book tells the inside story of the making of that movie in Monument Valley, AZ along with the stories of the actors and the great director John Ford. That story alone would make this a magnificent book with an insider's look at a classic film, great actors and a classic movie backdrop. The story surrounding this movie is well told and some of the things we learn about Ford, Wayne and movie making during the 1950's are extremely interesting.
