Howdy Pilgrims,
Washington may rename the cross-state John Wayne Pioneer Trail; heres why.
Former John Wayne Pioneer Trail renamed Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail.
One of the reasons given for the name change were offensive remarks made by trail namesake John Wayne were cited for the renaming. The remarks that are referenced to are those made by the actor in a May 1971 interview with Playboy magazine. These remarks that have come to be offensive, are just like everything else PC, as one event in lifetime makes a person a racist/bigot. These remarks caused California to vote down a resolution for a John Way Day. This is the same kind of thinking that founding fathers statues and monuments are being removed. History is history, you just can't remove it because you don't like it. Pardon my pique but this PC crap burns my butt.

The featured film in this newsletter is Private Hell 36 (1954). This film stars Ida Lupino, Howard Duff, Steve Cochran, Dorothy Malone, and Dean Jagger.
This taut, low-key and highly effective film noir was an early example of a style that director Don Siegel came to perfect in his later films. Although dealing with robbery and murder it's at its most effective in the small scenes of domesticity between the central characters, a crooked cop, his partner and the women they are both involved with.
