I just wanted to update you on the happenings at Newt's John Wayne Site. CLICK HERE for a list of films starring John Wayne on TV showing this month.

• On May 14, 2004 film and television actress Anna Lee passed away. The Anna Lee page is new to the site, check it out for information about her long and varied career. Miss Lee appeared in five films starring John Wayne.
  

• Existing copies of THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY on VHS tape are still going for a high price on eBay, from $100 - $200. But all is not lost, here is a recap of the information concerning the DVD release of this film.
  

  Last December there was an article in Daily Variety announcing that Gretchen Wayne, Michael's widow, had made a deal to update and restore THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY and ISLAND IN THE SKY. CLICK HERE to read the Variety article.
  

  In the 02/20/04 issue of the San Francisco Examiner. In Jan Wahl's column she quoted William Wellman Jr. as saying "Of my father's 76 pictures, one of the best is finally being restored. I just finished working on the DVD of "The High and the Mighty," so look for that one soon!"
  

  On Friday, July 16th I called Batjac Productions (310-278-9870) and they confirmed that it will be released but that was all that they would say, even after I pressed them to find out if it would be this year. This year would be the right time as 2004 is the 50th anniversary of the film's release. If anyone out there has any other information or contacts please let me know.

• Those of you that haven't visited the COMANCHE STALLION website can do so by clicking the name. Harry Carey Jr is to produce and star in this feature. Please visit the website and be sure to sign his guest book so he can know what you think of this project. Others in the cast are Sam Elliott, Kathrine Ross, Robert Carradine, Rance Howard, and James Arness. Filming will begin this summer in Monument Valley and Texas.
