The news about THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY DVD release is getting better. In my last newsletter I told you that the DVD is in the works for the future. Well, it is still not for sure when it will be out but from another source I hear that we can expect it this year.
Austin Rockwell Taylor (aka ART) the moderator and sheriff of McCandles, Texas the most popular John Wayne group message board on Yahoo!, has great news. From a reliable source deep within Batjac, the plan was to have had it released by July 3, 2004 to coincide with the date of its original release in 1954. But the re-mastering/restoration has not been completed. There are still plans to release the film this year to take advantage of the 50th anniversary marketing plan. But as of now they have not set a target date. By the way, this release is going to be a 2-disc set. There should be some swell extra goodies on this release. If all goes well it will be a very merry Christmas for us all with this long overdue release.

This newsletter is a little early this month for two reasons, (1) I wanted to get out the word about THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY and (2) to let everyone know about the day of John Wayne films on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cable channel. On August 1 there will be 24 hours of the Duke on TCM. CLICK HERE to get the full rundown on all the films that will be shown that day. The times listed are Pacific time, so check your cable/satellite listings for the times in your area.

As always, be assured that the email address you used to sign up for this newsletter will NEVER be sold or given to any other party, NOT EVER!
Your comments or suggestions are welcome and encouraged.
