• In September on Turner Classic Movies (TCM). This month the John Wayne films are few but I have also added some documentaries that may be of interest.
  

• Another new biography of film star Gail Russell written K.C. Motsinger. Gail Russell: A Biography of an Actress is the story of Gail Russell, Hollywood's hard luck actress, is remembered as Stella in "The Uninvited" and the faithful Quaker girl, Penelope, who reforms John Wayne in "Angel and the Badman." Seeking a solution to cope with unwanted stardom, she turned to alcohol. Tragically, it would lead to her untimely death at age 36. The book includes rare, never before seen photos from Gail's 1941 high school year book as well as Gail's original artwork, not seen by the public for over 50 years.   • Check out video sound bites by David James Elliott talking about his role as John Wayne in the film TRUMBO (2015). The film stars Bryan Cranston TVs Breaking Bad) as Dalton Trumbo and Helen Mirren as gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.
    

    A new movie short, DUKE (2016), that was released June 15th is about legendary cowboy actor, John Wayne, comes to pick up one of his biggest fans at the moment of her passing. Check out a video of the making of this short film, DUKE "behind the scenes" Promo Video.

    Actor David Huddleston passed away at age 85 on August 2, 2016. He appeared with John Wayne in Rio Lobo (1970) and McQ (1974). Read the article from the Hollywood Reporter.
